Finding Beauty, Rest, and Renewal in Ireland

This summer, I had the privilege of traveling to Ireland with my daughter, Avia. Ireland is one of those places that feels like it was painted by nature itself—rolling green hills, rugged coastlines, charming towns, and people whose kindness is as memorable as the scenery. Everywhere we went, I felt an undeniable sense of peace and connection to something bigger than myself.

But getting there wasn’t easy. Leading up to our trip, life had been heavy. My mom hasn’t been feeling well, and the weight of that worry took its toll on me—physically and emotionally. Stress has a way of showing up in the body: in tight shoulders, in fatigue that lingers, and in a mind that won’t slow down. I could feel all of it.

That’s why this trip was so important. It wasn’t just a vacation; it was a chance to pause, to breathe, and to remind myself that even in the hardest seasons, life is meant to be lived fully. Together, we laughed, explored, and soaked in the breathtaking beauty around us. Every walk through the countryside, every conversation over a meal, felt like a reset button—helping me release what I’d been carrying and come back to myself.

Travel has a way of doing that. It pulls us out of routine and invites us to see the world, and ourselves, with fresh eyes. It also reminds us of something we too often forget that we cannot pour from an empty cup. Looking after ourselves is not indulgent—it’s essential. Whether that means taking a trip, stepping outside into nature, or simply pausing to breathe deeply for a few minutes, self-care allows us to show up with more love, strength, and presence for the people who matter most.

My time in Ireland reminded me of the importance of slowing down, of filling my soul with beauty, and of embracing moments of joy even amid challenges. Life will always bring stress and uncertainty, but how we care for ourselves determines how we move through it.

I came home feeling lighter, more grounded, and deeply grateful—for Avia, for my mom, and for the gift of being alive to experience it all.

So, here’s my gentle reminder to you: take the break, go for the walk, book the trip, or simply give yourself permission to pause. Life is meant to be lived fully, and sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is recharge and allow ourselves to feel joy.
