Health Matters
Declining health conditions are linked to inadequate nutrition, chronic stress and unresolved emotional traumas or issues. We get sick because we are not listening to the subtle messages from our bodies. We tend to cover up the symptoms or messages with medications or try to silence them with junk food, alcohol, sugar etc. We may intuitively know that something is not right, but not always want to listen because we might have to make a change to our current situation, and that produces fear.
When faced with an illness, it is difficult to not worry or feel stressed about it—this is only natural. According to ancient wisdom, the solution exists before the problem is created. Unfortunately, we can’t always see the solution because we are in a state of fear and disbelief. When we provide our body with optimal living conditions, including the right foods and nutrients, and surround ourselves with a nurturing environment that is healing both physically and emotionally, we can begin to truly heal.
“In order to heal we need to understand the hidden meaning of the disease, what it is symbolizing, and see it as a process of transformation. Then we can live more fully with awareness, understanding and insight and develop a deeper relationship with ourselves.” – Ara Wiseman, Feed Your Body Feed Your Soul
Our body’s natural inclination is towards health and to always strive for balance. In order to resolve our health issues we need to resolve our emotional issues and nourish ourselves on all levels including the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical. Nourishment is that intimate connection to ourselves—it gives us a sense of calm.
Lasting health & overall wellness is dependent on all levels being nourished. Our physical body is affected by our emotions and our emotions are affected by inadequate nutrients and the health of our gut microbes. The importance of good digestion can oftentimes be overlooked. There is a gut-brain axis that sends signals through your nervous system to your brain, affecting your mood.
The majority of our immune function resides in our gut, so it is crucial that we keep our entire gastrointestinal tract clean and regular. Regular and healthy elimination is essential because we need to remove toxins from our body.
Throughout my career I have worked with clients with diverse health issues and have learned a lot. Life has it ups and downs but it’s how we weather the storm that determines which switch we turn on, which gene is being expressed.
We will help get to the root cause of the disharmony or imbalance in your body. Your body is made up of interconnected systems. An imbalance in one system has a cascading effect on all the other systems, often resulting in inflammation and disease.

Cancer Prevention
A proper diet is essential because food is medicine. Integrating healthy nutrition with protective foods specifically suited to healing your body may prevent cancer or, for the cancer patient, help with recovery. Nutrients are needed for proper body functions including, immunity, hormonal signaling, regeneration of organs and tissues and repairing DNA damage. Vitamins are cofactors that are needed by the body for biochemical reactions. Protective foods are fundamental to restoring health, as they help the body to heal itself.
Exercise, yoga, meditation, rebounding, sweating, sunlight, pure filtered water, and proper sleep are necessary to keep you healthy. Detoxification is essential; it is not always about what you add, but what you remove. Let go of what is no longer needed in your life. You need to clear away the clutter and anything that weighs you down. Where is energy being lost and/or blocked? Do you primarily focus on the positive or negative? What can you do to help your body get back into balance? Healing comes from within, but sometimes we need help accessing it.
Colorful organic vegetables, including leafy greens, sprouts and fresh fruit are protective foods rich in antioxidants. They have the perfect balance of vitamins, minerals, fiber, Omega-3 fatty acids and Phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are biologically active compounds that strengthen our immune system by neutralizing and detoxifying harmful chemicals.
Heart Health
Your environment and your choice of lifestyle determine which genes get switched on and which ones are suppressed, with the help of your thoughts, emotions, and unconscious beliefs. Research has found that most heart attacks occur between 8 am and 9 am on Monday morning. Most people who have suffered a heart attack on Monday morning expressed a lack of work fulfillment. They also had unfulfilled dreams, and felt powerless to make any changes in their situation.
Our Mondays have become toxic because we internalize the stress and unhappiness we feel in our life. When we internalize stress without managing it properly, it then wreaks havoc on our physical and mental wellbeing. Stress depletes us of nutrients and friendly gut bacteria, creating imbalances that can manifest into more serious physical illness and disease. Heart disease is a reflection of the sadness and anguish a person feels in their life – conscious or unconscious – affecting the blood vessels feeding the heart and causing constriction preventing proper blood flow.
Type 2 Diabetes
Throughout North America, the incidence of type II diabetes has been spiraling upward for years. Many experts now know that the rising incidence of this disease corresponds directly to the pervasive consumption of unhealthy high fat, low fiber food in the SAD – Standard American Diet – that results in the creation of excess abdominal body fat. Excess body fat, especially the “visceral fat” that surrounds your organs, increases systemic inflammation and oxidative stress, and is associated with insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis and other metabolic issues.
A low fat, whole food plant-based diet is the solution. Most people have been misled, and falsely believe that whole fruits are the culprits when, in fact, just the opposite is true. It is the high fat foods and oils that are the true problem. Fresh fruits are full of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants and fiber, and have the highest electrical energy of all foods. The more you consume raw, whole energetic foods, the more vibrant and healthy you become.
Type II diabetes affects the health of every cell in the body and, consequently, may lead to numerous complications. On a psycho-spiritual level, diabetes may result from being unable to appreciate and absorb “the sweetness of life.”
Gastrointestinal Health
Digestive discomfort is largely a result of eating too much food and/or food that is simply not compatible with your body. Digestive disorders are the primary cause of various symptoms and diseases. When under stress you are in flight or fight response (sympathetic nervous system). Proper digestion occurs during rest and digest (parasympathetic nervous system). When you are under stress you are not digesting properly and not producing adequate digestive enzymes. Chronic stress impacts our gut health and poor gut health affects our overall mood.
Learning to relax is essential to proper digestion since stress can shunt blood flow away from your digestive organs and decrease secretions needed for digestion, leading to nutrient deficiencies.
Symptoms of digestive issues include, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, indigestion, gas, belching, bloating, ulcers, appetite disorders, allergies, vitamin and mineral deficiencies and fatigue.
Colon Health
A healthy colon is of vital importance, as many diseases prevalent today may be linked to a sedentary colon. The food that we eat directly affects the health of our colon, an organ that plays a significant role in keeping us vibrant and healthy. Anxiety, control, perfectionism, wanting everything to be clean and tidy, holding back our emotions and retaining old grievances are some of the issues that are related to constipation or bowel disorders. Once we change our diet, become aware of our unresolved issues and learn to let go, then our bodies will do the same.
Allergies, Sensitivities & Intolerances
Allergies are the body’s misguided and extreme response to allergens. Just as the use of unnatural, processed, chemically laden food has become ubiquitous in the North American diet; food allergies and intolerances have correspondingly increased. Allergies can also be triggered due to memory association. Whenever a significant event in your life occurs, all the psychological, emotional and sensory aspects that are connected with it are contained within that memory. This can include food or environmental triggers.
Arthritis / Joint Pain
Inflammation in the synovial membranes of joints and nerves in the body cause the pain, swelling and stiffness known as arthritis. Inflammation is your body’s way of protecting itself, but long-term inflammation leads to problems.
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is considered an autoimmune disease but that doesn’t make sense because your body doesn’t attack itself. Its natural inclination is for health and to always strive for balance. Your body is working for you, not against you.
It is important to get to the root cause of all illnesses and disharmonies. Research has shown that hidden food allergies, weak digestion and heavy metal toxicity such as mercury, cadmium, have been linked with rheumatoid arthritis. Sadly, some of these metals are found in our food chain and too frequently become part of an ordinary diet.
Pulsed Electomagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) provides a noninvasive, safe method to treat pain, inflammation and circulatory issues associated with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) can lead to metabolic syndrome, including insulin resistance and obesity, if not properly looked after. Healthy dietary nourishment and the right nutrients and herbs are important. Proper weight loss helps hormone levels return to normal allowing for more balance in the body. Most people want to suppress the symptoms in order to make them go away. Unfortunately that just prolongs the issue and will make it even more difficult to reverse over time. On a psycho spiritual level, ovaries represent the essence of femininity, as they are the female gonads. Issues relating to ovaries may be the result of deeply engrained cultural beliefs about femininity, or can be the result of a feeling of loss or feeling stifled creatively.
Hypothyroidism
Hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid) slows the body’s metabolic rate, depresses activity of other glands and adversely affects all cells and tissues in the body. Adjusting the nutritional intake, including taking suitable supplements (minerals) and reducing stress, effectively prevents or alleviates this condition.
The Barnes basal body temperature test is an additional way to determine thyroid function using basal body temperature (the body’s lowest temperature at rest). This temperature reading measures how much energy is actually being generated in cells. The body’s temperature will drop below normal while the body is at rest (sleep), but will rise to normal after activity and will reach its highest temperature by the end of the day. The temperature will change with ovulation, emotional upset, illness or a restless night’s sleep.
There is another thyroid condition called Reverse T3, where the body actually slows down the metabolic rate in order to conserve energy. This might happen in times of stress or when the body is suffering from an overload of toxins, heavy metals, viruses, bacteria, high cortisol levels – or even low iron status, just about anything that interferes with proper DNA expression. When this occurs, your body basically puts the brake on your metabolism in order to conserve energy, to provide it for your vital organs so your body can heal. This situation is called Reverse T3, and it results in symptoms associated with hypothyroid.
On a psycho-spiritual level, your thyroid relates to transformation and change, communication and expression.
Prenatal Nutrition
Healthy nutrition is of the utmost importance for mother and baby during pregnancy. Focusing on nutrition and health before pregnancy helps to ensure optimal nutritional status for mother and baby thus minimizing the risk of developing an abnormality. It is essential not only to eat healthy food but also to avoid unhealthy food and lifestyle habits. Optimally nourished mothers produce healthier babies.
Menopause
Menopause is a time when significant transformation and life re-evaluation takes place on the physical, mental and spiritual levels. According to Anthony William, “It’s the body’s natural way of slowing down the aging process.” If you think about it, your body doesn’t require the same energy it once needed in order to go through the reproductive cycle. If you are at that stage in your life, be grateful, it is a time of wisdom and truth that comes with age and experience.
Those who have imbalances may experience symptoms such as hot flashes, anxiety, depression, vaginal dryness, sweating, sleep disturbances, fatigue, decreased libido and headaches, among others. These symptoms are not solely caused by menopause, although they are often grouped together. We must replenish the body’s organs, tissues and cells with the nutrients that get depleted while living our day-to-day lives. An imbalance in one system has a cascading effect on all the other systems, so it is important to look at the whole body in order to determine the root cause.
Pre and Post Cosmetic Surgery
Undergoing cosmetic surgery requires that serious consideration be given to nutritional health. Optimal nutrition, both before an after cosmetic surgery, including proper nutrient intake and nutritional supplements, enhances results, speeds healing and reduces inflammation and bruising. New cell regeneration requires proper hydration. The skin needs oxygen and nutrients, and toxins need to be eliminated. But if circulation is poor, blood moves slowly, oxygen levels go down, and the skin can’t get proper nutrition. We offer a comprehensive nutritional program for pre and post cosmetic surgery.
