How to Bring Balance into Your Life
(Written by Natalia Hnatiw)
Balance— that’s what everything in creation is striving for. When things are balanced and harmonized, everything functions optimally. Maintaining a healthy balanced life is essential for happiness and well-being and can boost your productivity and career and business success. A well-balanced person has a greater ability to focus their attention and energy on attaining their goals and moving forward in a meaningful way.
But what does it mean to be balanced? Balance is a state of equilibrium, where you have a handle on all the various aspects in your life and don’t feel that your heart or mind are being pulled too hard in any direction. When you are balanced, you feel calm, grounded, clear-headed and motivated. Your body, mind and soul are in sync. Does this describe you? If not, there are things you can do to bring this about. The key is to not try to change everything at once, but to make small modifications over time to determine what works best for you.
How to find balance:
Become aware—The first step to bringing yourself back into balance is awareness. When you are aware, you can determine whether you are on the right path, or if you are making good, balanced decisions.
Don’t be perfect— There’s no such thing. It’s okay to make mistakes, to fall down or to come up short. This is how we learn and how we grow. Sure, determination is great but you can’t always be successful at everything you do, and when you accept this, life becomes a whole lot easier.
Move your body— Do you find yourself stuck behind a desk all day, and then by the time you finally get home, you’re exhausted and have just enough energy to flop on the couch and reach for the remote? You need movement. The word emotion has “motion” in it and in order to feel good, you need to move your body. Go for a walk outside; being in nature is one of the most calming and serene things you can do for yourself. If you live in a city and it’s the dead of winter, dress warm with layers. You can also join a gym, yoga studio, practice yoga online or go to a mall and walk around. The point is to get movement into your body which will also help to calm your mind.
Do things for yourself— and don’t feel guilty about it. Do you find yourself trying to make everyone else happy and put yourself last on the list? You need to erase that mind set. You deserve to go for a massage, have a manicure, take a bubble bath, or read a good book, and enjoy it!
Minimize toxins— by that, I don’t just mean chemicals or processed foods, although you should avoid those too. Minimize the negative influences around you, the people that bring you down, the ones with the negative attitudes, the complainers and whiners. Avoid toxic people, you know who they are. We take in the energy of the ones around us, so surround yourself with positive go-getters who are as happy to be on this Earth as you are.
Don’t be a hermit— make time for your friends and family. It’s okay to have time to yourself, but spending good, quality time with the people who care about you is also important in a balanced life. So remember that friend you half-heartedly promised you’d have coffee with? Call them. Make a date and catch up. I promise you won’t regret it.
These are suggestions that I find work for me, when I feel that my life is getting out of balance. How do you find your balance? Email us and let us know.
