Healthy Weight Management

  • Do you need to lose weight?

  • Have you been dieting on and off for years?

  • When you lose weight do you tend to put it right back on again?

  • Are you an emotional eater?

  • Are you experiencing fatigue and not feeling well?

  • Have you lost weight because of an illness?

  • Do you need to gain healthy weight?

It is important to embrace yourself for who you are and love yourself unconditionally. Your excess body weight doesn’t define who you are. Instead of feeling bad about yourself, be thankful that you are now aware and have an opportunity to change and step out of old patterns that no longer serve you. In order to create any change you need to become your own cheerleader.

We create circumstances in our lives and set up roadblocks or distractions, preventing us from looking closely at ourselves or our situations. Emotional eating is just another distraction—junk food laden with fat, sugar and sodium suppress emotions, providing false emotional comfort that is fleeting.

I see a lot of clients with health and weight related issues who have lost their way. When you lose your sense of self it affects your self esteem. What you think, feel and believe about yourself determines the choices you make. Our attitude is what defines us, not the excess weight or our circumstances. If you don’t feel as though you are worth it, you will make unhealthy choices.

This leads to a lifestyle where we eat on the run, consume junk food, eat too much, don’t exercise, drink a lot of coffee and dehydrate ourselves. We are not setting ourselves up to win—we are in fact manifesting our negative thoughts. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

You can do whatever you set your mind to with the right guidance and support. The key is keeping yourself healthy and balanced by giving your body what it needs to thrive, and learning how to heal through diet. Food is one of life’s greatest pleasures that no longer needs to be filled with anxiety and guilt.

Let me help you by giving you the tools needed to help yourself. My specialty is weight loss/gain. Through years of experience and research I have discovered secrets to keeping the weight off or putting healthy weight on and slowing down the aging process.

It is time to start feeling good about yourself again and loving the person you have become.

How Does Stress Lead to Weight Gain?

When we are under stress our adrenal glands release hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol, to temporarily increase our energy. Unfortunately, this occurs at the expense of other functions that aren’t needed at that moment for our immediate survival. Excess adrenaline increases our heart rate and elevates our blood pressure in order to increase our energy — so we can flee danger, or turn to fight it.

If we stay in this state day after day, week after week, too much adrenaline becomes corrosive to our body and literally eats away at us. Not to mention, this kind of stress depletes the body of specific nutrients. When we become depleted of nutrients we tend to crave and overindulge in unhealthy food, leading to weight issues. For instance, consuming a lot of sugar affects levels of serotonin, leading to more cravings. The problem is that when we overindulge, we end up digging ourselves deeper by further depleting ourselves of nutrients and increasing our cravings. When we overindulge in sugar for example, we not only affect the delicate balance of microbes in our gut, the sugar also degrades our stores of vitamins B, C, D, magnesium, calcium and chromium.

Think of the adrenal glands as our shock absorbers. When they get exhausted we no longer have the reserves we need, and become less resilient to life’s bumps along the way.

When we have ongoing daily stress for a prolonged period of time, our cortisol levels rise and can cause weight gain, reduced bone density, high blood pressure, mood swings, muscle weakness, insomnia, memory loss and suppressed immunity, which all lead to illness. Stress, especially chronic stress, constricts our blood vessels and taxes the adrenals and thyroid hormones causing imbalances that affect our metabolism, circulation, elimination and the distribution of excess fat.
